Good day! fellow readers and swooners and travelers and adventurers - okay, that's enough. I just miss you all after my VERY long absence from the blogosphere. It's been a hectic month. But now, hey! I'm graduating high school! Finally! And that will mean more reading this coming summer.

And now for the IMM, I have three books for you. And yes, I've been in constant desire to read them.

It's been a long time since I have posted an In My Mailbox post. Phew! Schedules are so hectic that I don't have time either to read or to post. Luckily, I found some minutes to today where I can post an IMM post. So here it is...

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

If you start to read this book, you will go on a journey with a nine-year-old boy named Bruno. (Though this isn't a book for nine-year-olds.) And sooner or later you will arrive with Bruno at fence. Fences like this exist all over the world. We hop you never have to encounter one. 

I'm very curious what's the fences all bout. What is the fence in this book? Why is it all over the world? This book has so many questions for readers and that makes me interested to this book.

It was not in my plan to buy another book this week. I still have 2 or 3 unread books in my shelf and I'm currently reading Blackbringer. Here is what actually happen. My ID case broke last week and I need a replacement as soon as possible because I will not be able to enter English proficiency class if I don't have an ID. I just knew that the case can be bought at National Bookstore near us so I planned to have a visit. The plan was very simple. Go inside the bookstore, find the case, pay and go. But, as usual, it was not followed. Before I can go to the shelves of supplies, I need to pass the book shelves. And these books, using their invisible elastic hands, grab and never let go of me. I spent like about 2 hours on one shelf. AND SO I go out of the bookstore with a book and an ID case.

The Divine Comedy: Inferno

I'm not so much into translation but I don't want to read the original stanza-style of this book. 

We recently discussed this classic book in our English proficiency class. And guest what, my seatmate and I were discussing about how about if the book was put in to a motion picture. We think that would be great! Honestly, I'm very excited to read this. I think the book has a very compelling plot and it's a classic of Italy! 

I'll read this after Blackbringer and you can expect a review in the near future. Oh my lord, I'm going to review a highly praised, world acclaimed, Italian classic!

It's been a long time since I posted my last IMM. Months! Mianly because, I have stopped reading in the past few months due to hectic school schedule. But now I decided to do one.


I only got two books for this IMM. One foreign book and one Filipino book. I want to taste the Philippine literature.

Stainless Longganisa by Bob Ong. It's the one white with different sort of pen as the cover image. It's about how the bestselling author pursue his dream to be a writer. It's written in Tagalog. 


I know you already know what's underneath.


The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. I already read it and just posted a review about it. 




One thing more. As you can see the books were covered in plastic. That's how I preserve them.

Nearmyth by Karen Francisco

I really would like to read this. Naermyth is a dystopian book by a Filipino author. If I'm not wrong, it would be the first dystopian published in the Philippines. You know, I really like dystopia. 

It is about the future, where all the myth creatures became alive and engage a war with the human race. There will be also a love story between the heroine and a guy who is a born killer but their only hope to survive.

Hello there. For this week, I got four books, won, gifted and borrowed. I'm very happy that I received a book last Friday on our Christmas party on school. It was the second installment of Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. I've been wishing to have it but I don't have enough money. 


I borrowed two books from our school library. I was very lucky for our school librarian to borrow books even it is Christmas vacation, and it is free of charge even if I exceed the days of borrowing them. 


I would like also to thank Nina from Brush Up your Reading. I won a novel from one of her contest. I was very happy with that.

Notice that the borrowed novels are not YA, I know. I just want to read them because my Social Studies teacher recommend it for me to read for me to realize my mission in life.

Tomorrow, I will visit my grandmother and I will blog for one week, but expect a lot of reviews since I will do just plain reading there.

Next year, I will lessen my book buying. I will save money for my best friend who is suffering from MILD heart enlargement. It's not only me who is saving up but we are six. We want to help especially me because he is my best friend. Please pray for him. Thank you!

Hi for another In My Mailbox post. I'm doing it now, even it is Saturday, because tomorrow I will be very busy. I will need to go visit my friend in the Philippine Heart Center and do a lot of school projects. It is really hard to choose between a special friend and a school grades.

This week, I got a e-book copy of The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. It is the first book in his new series, The Heroes of Olympus. I am dying hard to get a book copy of this but I can't wait so I asked my mother to buy me an e-book edition of the book. Since that I don't have any kindle or e-reader device, I just used my ipod touch with ibooks application. What a handy device. I really like my ipod since it is like a substitute to my computer. Even some of my projects are stored in it.

I'm also looking forward to get a copy of The Red Pyramid which also by Rick Riordan. Yes, I am a great fan of fantasy, both middle grade and young adult fantasy.

Here's a short summary!

Finally I got it! Tragic Theater by G.M Coronel is a Philippine published book. It was a horror novel. Of course it was named Tragic :) I stumbled upon the fan page of this novel in facebook. First I thought I won't read it because it is a horror novel. And if I read this, this is my first horror novel ever read in  my reading history. I saw the comments of different readers on facebook. They say it was totally scary. Some said that they cannot sleep because images of ghost from the book roam in their minds. From that day, I become curious. What kind of writing this book have? How it is?

Using my only left P500. I bought from National Bookstore for 200. Now I'm very poor and need to build up my wallet again.

I both bought and borrowed books this week. Let's start from what I got first.

I've mention is my last post about new books I got that I bought The Magician by Michael Scott. I also said that I won't be reading it until I bought the first book, The Alchemyst. Fortunately, my classmate, who is also a book worm, lend me her The Alchemyst book. I was so happy that I will finally start the series after I finished The Lightning Thief.

The reason why it caught my attention is because of the involvement of real persons. John Dee, Nicholas Flammel, Nicollo Machiavelli, they are all real persons that exist in the past. Micheal was right, the characters from the past catches attention. I also like magic, spells, and the most is the codex, a book of prophecy and magic that can be found at the book.

The second I got was The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I knew about Neil Gaiman but I didn't read his works. I knew about Coraline and the story interest me but I don't know why I don't buy the novels. National Bookstore announced that they will be having a promotional price for The Graveyard Book from P435 ($10) to P199($4) such a steal. Who can resist buying the book you want to but never had a chance and NOW IN A VERY LOW PRICE!!

I like to buy it because first of all, I like horror. Anything horror. But I'm scared to sleep after watching or reading them, how ironic... It is story based on The Jungle Book, but instead of a child living in a forest raised by animals, the book put a magic spell on it. The child grew in a graveyard and was raised by ghost. I wonder how ghost can take care of children. Are they kind or aggressive like what we see most in movies? I can't tell until I read the book.

I'm very happy I got a new book a while ago from National Bookstore. Yesterday, it was my birthday. My father asked me what I want so I told him I want a book. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to visit the bookstore yesterday because it is also fiesta here. A while ago I went to Robinsons and we bought a book. I really want the first book, The Alchemyst. Off course I want to start from the very start of the series but it run out of stock. So I just decided to buy the second book.

I'm not reading the book yet. I have The Hunger Games first then the Lightning Thief before I can start this book. I don't want to skip any book. But, maybe after reading the Lightning Thief I may find a copy of The Alchemyst. When it happens, then I will start with the first book first.

The Hunger Game and the Lightning Thief are the books on the top of my things to buy. So a while ago, we had our project practice. Our leader said that we will buy some materials at the National Bookstore. I have some money and I'm so happy to go.

While they are selecting the materials, I go to the best selling books section and look for the two books. I first saw a harbound the hunger games, which cost 700+. I looked for the paperback one and luckily I found one. I'm also looking for catching fire but no paperback to I decided to just buy the Lightning Thief.

I'm now on nearly 600 page of Breaking Dawn and planning to make a review for it. Next, I will read the Hunger Games and expect a review of it in the next few weeks.
